"In My Life" Lyrics Johnny Cash

"In My Life" Lyrics Johnny Cash

In his life Johnny Cash covered many songs. Perhaps one of the more poignant ones that don't dwell too much on the spectre of a coming death is Cash's version of the Beatle's In My Life. The lyrics were written by John Lennon in response to a challenge from a journalist to write a song about childhood. The song eventually became a 'looking back' kind of song and thus was perfect for an aged Johnny Cash to sing.

In My Life Lyrics

There are places I'll remember
All my life
Though some have changed
Some forever
Not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends
I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life
I've loved them all

But if all these friends and lovers
There is no one
Compares with you
And these memories
Lose their meaning
When I think of love
As something new

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life
I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life
I love you more
In my life
I love you more
